One’s age when beginning piano lessons for children isn’t as important as who decides when the right time has come. Some parents decide that their child is a prodigy as soon as the little one runs his fingers across the keys.  The child is put into lessons immediately, perhaps at age three or four, and begs to quit almost before beginning. Rather than make the decision for your child, let your child determine if, or when, to begin. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try to influence your son or daughter. Encourage them, play piano CDs at home and in the car, explore pianos at the store. Any age is okay to begin piano lessons for children, but make it a joy for them and a choice they have made.
