You always know it is coming about Springtime when everyone is talking about getting deck stain done again. Our family has been trying very hard over the last several years to go completely organic.  Our food was the biggest and hardest challenge.  Getting rid of foods with hormones was our first obstacle.  So, we decided to start raising chickens for our own organic eggs.  We starting gathering chicken coop plans ranging from easy to complex, and most we found right on the internet.  The good news is that our family found the right plan to accommodate our space and now we have enough chickens to give us several dozen eggs a week, with many left over to share.  This was a great family project.

Every year, our office holds a raffle during the 12 days before Christmas. The items that are raffled off are the gifts that some of the customers donate to us. Last year, the biggest prize was a Blackberry. This year was a better year. Some of the items to be raffled off included an ipod, a mini laptop, a Brasilia Espresso Machine and a $100 gift certificate. I had my hopes up of winning the ipod since mine got stolen a month ago and I haven’t replaced it yet. Since there were only 33 employees in our office my chances of winning were good enough. The day came when the ipod was raffled off and I didn’t win, but two days later I won the laptop which was even better. I cannot wait until next Christmas’s raffle.

A few years ago I remember seeing a celebrity on television talking about ways to save the planet with little things that you can do at home. She was talking about replacing all the light bulbs in your house with bulbs that cost about $100.  I could not believe it.  How could someone like me afford to pay for this? She suggested that they lasted a long time but not even if a light bulb lasted for the rest of my life could I afford that. I need homemade energy that I can afford and that is reasonable for anyone to do.

I purchased an inner-spring futon mattress which feel good to sleep on. the previous mattress was worn out because I have slept on the same one for a very long time, since I was a kid I think. The mattress needed to go for something more suitable for me. I have back problems for a long time and feel I needed something that would give me more support. I do like the feel of the mattress and it has served me well these last few months I been sleeping on it. Like most people I need a good nights sleep now I have it.  Get some memory foam now!

I want to make sure that my kids would have a great time while they are studying. I just know how crucial light is when you are studying. For me, it is really very important to get them the right amount of light so that they would have a good time. I guess the lamps are the most wonderful thing that we could get for them. It is really great that we have the table lamp here to make their studying so much better. For me, studying with the table lamp is more effective than anything else and that is just what my kids need. 

A few days ago, my husband called me and told me that he was going to be going into the city with his brother, and he wondered if there was anything that I wanted him to get, or anything that we needed.  I told him that I would really like it if he kept a lookout for some nice Designer Beach Towels. We were going to be taking a trip out to the coast, and I wanted to make sure that we looked good when we got down to that beach.  He told me that he would make sure to keep an eye out.

My family is very heard to shop for. When you ask them what they want for gifts they always say nothing. In the past I have gotten them gift cards but that just seems so impersonal. So, this year I am thinking about sending them Christmas hampers. I have been looking online and found a few that I think would be perfect for them. There are wine ones, food ones, bath ones. I think that I will get a different one for everyone on my list and then I will be done with my holiday shopping, at least until next year!

A family friend that we haven’t seen for sometime visited us just last week and brought a truly delicious duck for dinner.  I, myself loved it a lot! I haven’t eaten a duck as tender and juicy as it was and what impressed me more is that she managed to keep the skin really crispy and it was non greasy as well, it seems that all its fat had dripped off.  So perfect for a health buff like me!  I just can’t get over it that while chatting after dinner I asked her how she cooked it and shared her secret – Ronco Rotisserie!
