I learned my lesson a few years back. We had left for vacation, and found that during the peak season, you do not want to leave your rooming plans up in air. You might find like we did the city having a special celebration and all lodgings full. This year, though we are headed back to New Zealand and I booked our Christchurch hotels ahead of time.
